Francesco Marra
Production

Francesco Marra. If he was less reserved, timid and shy, Francesco an agronomist responsible for production in the winery, would boast of many noble traditions and other rich stories of agricultural passion in his family. It is strange to meet here in the land of baroque such a serious person, so precise but in such a sweet way. A quality connected with being, as opposed to appearing, appearing being a quality that he contests in the local upper classes of Salento. If you ask him seriously he would rather tell you about the years spent in the fields investigating the life of the plants, in a happy childhood and adolescence, in a Salento full of sun and scented with breezes and sea air. All these things, as we see, get under the skin, and forge the face, the expressions and dream, already thought over with a friend in childhood play..... “the dream of making wine when I am taller than the vines and of studying them and learning about all their secrets”.
When Francesco grew taller than the vines he went away to study agriculture and when he came back he found his friend who had returned from his travels around the world. They both remembered the promise they had made: “we will make wine together” they had said as children. The two friends created their business and they gave it the ancient name of Castel di Salve.
Francesco Marra who is in charge of wine production, carefully follows all the rules of wine-making for each wine. The fact that he is reserved gives him an extraordinary capacity to concentrate on the perfection of the end product. He only smiles, when tasting, you understand and also he realises that you recognise the merits of entrepreneur and also of young gentleman, man of the wine cellar.
